• Call a friend – Friends can be great people to cheer us up and get back our motivation. Make sure you do not call your Debbie Downer friend or Judgemental Judy. Stick with Motivating Molly or Caring Carrie, the real ones
  • Watch a movie – Drowning into a fictional character’s life story for some time helps forget our own worries and stories. Use this as a temporary solution only. 
  • Go for a walk – Walking in nature helps us feel more connected to the present moment. It is very healing and something very simple to do. It is also a mild form of exercise that releases endorphins – the feel-good hormones
  • Journaling – Journaling how you are feeling right now, what is hurting you, moments of gratitude and forgiveness or anything else that you may want to journal helps you channel your wandering thoughts out of your mind and body and onto a paper. The mere act of journaling helps your mind relax and feels like taking action and doing something about your worries. 
  • Color your day – Download a mandala drawing from the internet. Appoint a color for every feeling you feel and color your feelings throughout the day onto the paper. The larger the time you felt a certain feeling, the more you use the associated color. 
  • Disappearing worry notes – Write notes and worries on a dissolving paper and watch all your worries dissolve in running tap water. Find them on Amazon here
  • Book an appointment with an emotional support coach like me – An emotional support coach can give you a nonbiased and nonjudgemental listening ear and help you with healthy coping mechanisms. If you are serious and want to hire me, book a FREE call here to discuss if we are a good fit!
  • Perform a chord -cutting ceremony – A chord cutting ceremony helps you to cut any negative energetic chords between you and a place, person, animal, thing or experience. You will feel an instant energy shift doing this ceremony. 
  •  Diffuse essential oils –  Essential oils can produce calming effects as well as mood-boosting and energizing effects. It depends on what you want from them. I love DoTerra oils.   • Clear clutter from a drawer – or best yet clear the clutter from the entire house and feel the difference. Follow Marie Kondo on Netflix or get her book here. I must tell you she is a little bit extreme in her love for de-cluttering. If you get the overall gist of her message, I think it is still life-changing. The extreme regimen by her might give you more stress, so maybe stay away from following advice word to word, unless you are exactly like her, then do whatever you must!
  • Learn a new language on Duo Lingo – or any other app that you like. Single lessons are about 5 minutes long and you can do them as long as you want. Feel the accomplishment of learning a new language and pat your back. I am learning Spanish and used it a little bit on my Costa Rica trip. 
  • Open the curtains and look outside – How many days has it been since you really looked out of your home or office window? See if you can notice a few new things that you never noticed before. 
  • Ask Alexa  to tell you a joke – or Siri or Hey Google. It is my kids’ favorite bored time activity and we all have a laugh at them. You are also welcome to google some jokes on your browser. 
  • Explore local events – When you are feeling down, sometimes just putting on good clothes and getting out of the house helps. You might also check out some local events and explore or connect and network. 
  • Pull an Oracle card for guidance –  In times of emotional distress or boredom, oracle cards can help us confirm our next steps or give more information about our current state. If nothing else, it also provides great entertainment and food for thought. Here are some of my favorite decks that you can find on Amazon : Kuan Yin Oracle, The Wild Unknown Cards, Mindful Reminders
  • Plan your vacation – Sign up for ticket alerts to your favorite places, read blogs that share more information on what to do in those places, plan out an amazing vacation and boost your energy and excitement. Pin the articles and images for later reference. 
  • Show gratitude –  If you are creative you can also create a gratitude jar. The idea is to write one to three things that you are grateful for in the day in your journal or on a piece of paper that you can put in the jar. 
  • Burn an incense stick or sage or palo santo 
  • Learn to play a singing bowl or best go attend a sound bath. If you are in Atlanta area, you can join my sound bath sessions
  • Write forgiveness notes –  Forgiving yourself and others help you move the stuck energy within your energetic field and makes you feel lighter. 
  • Take pictures of things you love – Maybe this could be a new hobby for you or just something that you already love to do. 
  • Take the trash out – Maybe it is trash day or you just need to empty the inside trash bins, check this one job off your to-do list
  • Meditate – Use a guided meditation app, learn mindfulness, join local meditation center or find a youtube video with meditation music. Close your eyes and tune in. If you are a local in Atlanta, I host monthly mindfulness circles in my town. Join me. 
  • Drink water – A lot of times thirst is mistaken for hunger. Use this opportunity to complete your daily water intake quota. Water also helps your system cool down internally. 
  • Perform a burning ritual – Write what no longer serves you. Then burn the paper safely outdoors in an urn. You can also write down what you intend to bring in to your life and send it to the Universe through the fire. This is my favorite New Moon and Full Moon ritual. 
  • Try Karaoke – Sing to a favorite tune. Maybe make it a weekly or monthly thing. 
  • Dance it out – Dance to your favorite beats. 
  • Do some jumping jacks – You do not have to get into your workout gear and go full on exercising. Maybe a few jumping jacks, or squats to change the mood will do. 
  • Write a Total Truth Letter If you are angry with someone, write out a letter addressing them. Write why you are angry, what is your concern behind the anger. Write from a place of forgiveness and gratitude. Write from a place of truth and facts. Then tear it out. Do not send it. Just process your emotions through it and throw it out. 
  • Get your creative juices flowing – Maybe write a poem about your feelings or brainstorm a story and characters. 
  • Pay some bills Cross out a to-do list item. 
  • Create a bucket list – Write down all the things you want to do in your life or places you want to visit. Scratch what you have already planned to do in the coming years. 
  • Track your receiving and blessings – Tracking money, gifts or other blessings you received helps you notice more of good things in your life. What you focus on grows. 
  • Write a blog post – You do not have to be a regular blogger to write. Get yourself a medium account and write your heart out. You can also think of sending your contribution to online journals. 
  • Hug a Tree – Hugging a tree helps you feel grounded. You might even have a conversation with the tree if you are open to it. You just have to go try it to see how it feels. I discovered this last year and it helps me every time. 
  • Just sit on the couch and do nothing This is hard to do but sit on the couch and do nothing. Just be. Y0u deserve it. 
  • Notice your emotions Close your eyes and notice your emotions and feelings inside the body. 
  • Build a pillow fort Maybe you have children and they would love to do this with you or you can do this all by yourself. 
  • Build a lego set – Try some lego sets for adults. They will take your mind off of whatever you are struggling with and you can also feel a sense of accomplishment. 
  • Do a few rounds of sun salutations – Get on your yoga mat. There is nothing beautiful than getting on your mat and working the emotions through the body. 
  • Breathe – In times of stress, we forget to breathe deeply. Breathe out 5 times and Breathe in 5 times. Take deep breaths in and out and all the extra oxygen in your body will bring you all the energy you need. 
  • Motivational Quotes – Read motivational quotes. Get all jazzed up for your new mindset
  • Read a book – Read your favorite book either fictional or nonfictional. A great book helps you think better and feel better sometimes more than your best friends. 
  • Smell the flowers outside or in your flower vase 
  • Plan your summer, spring or fall container garden – Read how-tos, go for shopping and getting all the things that you need, try your hand at a new hobby. 
  • Play with your pet – If you have a pet, you might be doing this already. If you do not have one, maybe volunteer at a shelter or visit a friend with a pet. Indulge. 
  • Punch a punching bag – Use this tried and tested stress relief technique. You will be amazed at your transformation and how soon you feel good about yourself. 
  • Mirror Exercise – Mirror exercises help you to build self esteem and self love like no other. Look into the mirror, look in your eyes and tell yourself you love you. If you have never done this before, I promise you it will be life changing. Here is a 21-day mirror workbook by Louise Hay
  • Try Tonglen meditation – I use this for my clients who are at a higher level of mindfulness practice but if you are up to it, you are welcome to try it out. 
  • Scan your body meditation – Try a body scan meditation. This is a beginner level meditation and you will be able to move through every part of your body noticing all emotions, feelings, sensations etc.  
  • Make a magical wish – Make a magical wish with this wishing candle
  • Go for a run – Wear your running shoes and hit the track. 
  • Try a Reiki session – My clients almost always feel lighter and beautiful after a Reiki session. Book a distant Reiki session with me here. It is a nonreligious based process and anyone can receive it. If trying new things is on your list, this is the one for you. 
  • Dress up – Dress up, maybe put some makeup on. Instantly brighten your mood even if there is nowhere to go. 
  • Play an instrument – You do not need to be a trained musician to play something at home. Get a Casio or a ukelele or drums and take online classes or just pull some strings and make some noise. 
  • Visualize a better future – Visualization done daily helps you achieve your dreams faster and quicker. Try it out. 
  • Create a vision board – If you are not so good at visualizing in your head, create a physical vision board or a Pinterest vision board. 
  • Stretch – Our muscles tighten up due to stress. Stretching helps relieve stressed muscles and your body will thank you for loving it. For an added stretch I use foam roller. It feels like getting a massage without all the money. 
  • Book a massage appointment – Sometimes foam roller is not enough. You want that added pressure and touch. 
  • Go Golfing – You do not have to play the entire game. You can just go for practicing your swing. You can play mini-golf. You can also get a practice golf mat at home. 
  • Practice EFT – Tapping your emotions out will help you process your feelings and emotions and help them move out of the body and mind system. You will also feel better. 
  • Run a bath – Soaking helps wash away the tires of the day. 
  • Scream in the towel – Scream in the towel when noone is in the house. It will help you take your emotions out of your body and outside. It is a safe processing system. 
  • Write down your goals – Create a task list and a tracking sheet. 
  • Brush your teeth and floss – Take care of your teeth. It helps you feel fresh and you get rid of germs that are unnecessary in your life. 
  • Play Uno – Get your partner, kids or friends and play some uno or cards. 
  • Call your parents – If you have a good relationship with your parents, call them. They are always ready to give you a hearing ear. If you do not like their advice you do not have to take it. 
  • Visit your place of worship – Maybe you are religious. If so, visit your place of worship and surrender your problems to the highest source that you believe in. 
  • Lift weights – Build some muscles. It is always useful. 
  • Cuddle in a warm blanket – Anxiety and stress can leave you feeling cold. Try some warm blankets and cuddle. 
  • Make tea – or coffee. A warm drink can help you feel comforted. Skip the sugar or honey if you are indulging into it too much. 
  • Water your plants – Maybe you forget to water your plants like I do sometimes. Take this moment to give them some love and nourishment. 
  • Learn a new skill – Take a course online on Udemy or Skillshare or anywhere else. You are also welcome to take it in person. 
  • Teach a skill – Giving back always feels good and comforting and boosts self esteem levels. Give back through teaching a skill you know and are good at. 
  • Apply lotion to your body – Give the skin the nourishment it needs. 
  • Cat videos – Watch cat videos, or pup videos or funny videos that bring some smile and laughter back to you. 
  • Get your nails done – Pamper yourself. Show yourself the love you need. 
  • Knit/Crochet/Paint Or something else that you are good at.
